This class is a blend of Contact Improvisation’s approach to the body with the structure of the Contemporary Dance class.  Mixing improvisational approaches with choreographed movement will articulate the soft athletics and multidirectional awareness of Contact Improvisation.

Forward, side and backward rolls, dives, knee slides, handstands, off axis patterns and floor surfing. Ultimately you will open space to fall, fly and release as we dance together with risk and humour.

Please note that you must have at least one year of dance experience to attend this class. This class will also require you to be able to give and bear weight.

Class description:

This popular class is aimed at beginners looking to explore contact improvisation at an introduction level. These sessions will develop your ability to work with others in a communal space moving freely but with awareness. You will gradually be introduced to ways in which you can support yourself and others through weight bearing. For this class it is important that you have had at least one year of dance experience and feel confident to bear other dancers’ weight.
