An open level course, combining improvisation and play. These sessions incorporate a variety of vital elements within Contact Improvisation and Partnering and consist of three major components: Fundamental Principals, Technique, and the space to explore, improvise and jam.
The emphasis in the course will be on the enjoyment of moving together with a mixture of simple yet challenging material and tasks alongside improvisation. The class invites participants to be spontaneous and daring in the types and quality of the movement vocabulary, challenging their choices, familiarity and physicality.
The course will run from Monday 15 – Friday 19 August, 2.15 – 3.45pm each day.
The course fee of £65 covers all five classes.
Feet off the Ground Dance is a collective comprising of four young women who utilise Contact Improvisation and Partnering as a common ground for training and performance devising. As a collective we are curious about challenging the usual scenarios that host dance performance and workshops, and use Contact Improvisation as an immediate way of engaging people with movement and the body. Spontaneous and engaging, Feet off the Ground Dance champion the female body, push physicality and work against the traditional roles of women within dance.
In a society that is afraid to touch, we find the human connection and bridge that gap. Our principles are simple: explore the unfamiliar, take risks and think big with artistic integrity.
