Sarah enjoys working with swings and spirals; fluid, flowing and lyrical movement to explore and encourage physical expression, whilst also developing power and strength through exploring elasticity within movement. Her teaching style uses imagery and metaphor whilst actively exploring and encouraging musicality.

Artist’s biography:

Sarah Miller began dancing at the age of four at The Place before going on to train at London Contemporary Dance School, graduating in 2003. Since graduating she has worked with a number of choreographers including Russell Maliphant, Jan de Schynkel, Martin Lawrence and Janet Rendell of Cedar Dance Animations. She became a teacher for the Classes & Courses department at The Place in 2002 and currently teaches across London including on the CAT programme at The Place.

Class description:

This popular class is aimed at beginners looking to introduce contemporary dance technique into their life. These sessions will establish some of the key principles of contemporary techniques created by pioneers of modern dance (Graham, Cunningham, Limon and release-based). The classes will encourage creativity and physicality through a combination of exercises and phrases. Attention will be paid to alignment and core strength alongside creativity to give you the confidence to progress onto Contemporary Improvers level.
