The class borrows from the fundamental patterns of Cunningham technique, supported by a sensorial approach. We try to establish our sense of verticality without compromising the notion of movement.
Supported by an important use of musicality, the class focuses on activating the stabilizers and a strong centre in order to find efficiency within movement. We intend to build a body that is centered but alert and in motion. Starting from some simple standing exercises, the class slowly challenges the body’s reactivity. Technical though accessible to all, the training is above all about reconnecting with the pleasure of motion.
This Level 1 class is for participants with some knowledge of contemporary dance and over a years’ dance experience. You will look at a more developed dance vocabulary and a greater sense of body awareness in the space. Classes will work with longer phrases aimed at increasing physicality, performativity and musicality. Working with a more codified structure, you will prepare the body for an increase in activity throughout the class.
