A fast paced, challenging class for advanced students. Packed full of content, Stephen’s classes move quickly; from the Limón-based fundamentals of swing, fall and recover, to ballet placement exercises and yoga-inspired strengthening practices, dynamic combinations explore Pelton’s own lyrical and idiosyncratic movement style.
Over the course of the class, movement material accumulates into longer, choreographic phrases that reinforce technical principles from earlier in the class. Movement dynamics, musicality and a passionate use of space are essential qualities of Pelton’s classes, as is his insistence upon using humour as a means of breaking through our inhibitions, unifying the group and finding new dimensions in our dancing.
Participants are required to have an understanding of correct alignment and technique, be familiar with classical terminology, and be able to process and embody intricate material which varies in timings, directions and dynamics.
Please note that this class is very popular. To avoid disappointment we advise you to enrol for the term or purchase a Carnet Card, which will allow you to book you place in advance. Alternatively, if you are only able to drop into the class, please book online from 9am on the day to secure your place.
