Family Dance Day 2022

For one day only, The Place presents a jam-packed day of entertainment for the whole family.

Be dazzled by fantastic theatre shows, let your imagination run wild with interactive storytelling, learn new moves with The Place’s brilliant dance artists and take centre stage in your own spontaneous performance.

Tickets

To access all Family Dance Day activities, shows and workshops, simply purchase a Day Pass per person for everyone aged 2 and older. On the day you will have the opportunity to choose your activities (places allocated on a first come first served basis) and created a schedule that works for you. Activities start from 11am but you can come at any time 11am-4pm with your Day Pass.

Discounts available for groups of up to 10 people, the more tickets you add to your basket the less each individual ticket costs. 
Important: Some activities will take place in the St Pancras Old Church, opposite The Place.

Events & Activities

• The Lion's Den | Theatre Show | The Place Theatre
  Performed by a fierce duo of two dancers to music played by a DJ, The Lion’s Den is a captivating and entertaining duet that makes you question who follows and who leads in our world as well as on stage. 
  Times: 11am-11.30am or 2pm-2.30pm
  Age Recommendation: 6+
  
  
   
• Family Orbit Workshop | Founders' Studio, The Place
  Family Orbit is a spontaneous and fun dance activity for children and their grown-ups. You and your children will dream of the spinning planets, circular comets and wizzing meteors. Moving to live music with mother and choreographer, Sivan Rubenstein this will be a stellar 30 minutes.
  Times: 12.30pm-1pm & 2.30pm-3pm
  Age Recommendation: 3-5yrs & their grown-ups
   
• Rainbow Butterfly | Performance | Churchyard, St Pancras Old Church
  Maja has a big imagination and would LOVE to be a Rainbow Butterfly and fly all the way to the Moon!
  Inspired by the four stages of transformation in the lifecycle of the butterfly, this interactive children’s show tells the story of a non-binary person who would love to be a butterfly.
  Created by dance artist Ella Mesma, this magical performance weaves a children’s tale using dance, maypole and aerial silks.
  Times: 11am-11.30am & 1.45pm-2.15pm
  Age recommendation: 3-6 yrs
   
• Vibes | Interactive Activity | Churchyard, St Pancras Old Church
  Equipped with headphones and a dedicated phone app, audiences are guided through an improvised dance creating a collective performance, allowing participants to meet and share a moment of dance, like a Flash Mob. Created by artists Masako Masutsita and Orbe.
  Please note: We will provide participants with phones for this performance.
  Times: 12pm-1.15pm & 2.30pm-3.15pm
  Age recommendation: 7+



• Extended Play's How to Build a Universe | Churchyard, St Pancras Old Church
  Reimagining the formation of our universe and planet through playfulness and creativity, How to Build a Universe invites children to participate by dancing along to lively music with two energetic performers. 
  Times: 11.40am-12pm & 3.10pm-3.30pm
  Age recommendation: 5+

• DEVA by Pagrav Dance | Churchyard, St Pancras Old Church
  Two playful and engaging Indian classical performers share their thoughts, their culture, their languages and their identity. This original performance is sure to inspire young audiences, challenge perceptions of a classical dancer and inspire children to think differently.
  Times: 12pm-12.20pm & 3.30pm-3.50pm

• StreamDANCE presents Getting Dressed Films by Second Hand Dance | Founders' Studio, The Place
  Travel into a digital world of swirling skirts, sashaying socks, glitter ball jackets and tumbling t-shirts. This series of 5 short dazzling dance films, transforms our everyday clothes into celebrations of our individuality. Set to an 80’s inspired soundtrack the Getting Dressed films are created for audiences 3 to 8 yrs old.  
  Times: 12-1pm (theatre) & 3-4pm
