Technique and Style

The class consists of 30 mins of Boris Kniaseff Floor Barre, followed by 20 mins barre work and 40 mins contemporary ballet centrework where you will then apply the Barre a Terre techniques and methods learnt.

Boris Kniaseff Floor Barre is a technique with the influence of ballet moves - the exercises are almost in the same order as a normal ballet class.

Kim’s approach is to correct individual alignment during class, explaining why common mistakes occur and spends time to work through exercises for injuries or painful joints. The technique gives you coordination with arms and legs. It sculpts your legs with fine muscle in a healthy way. It strengthens your core to re-establish the lower and the upper part of the body.

Wear socks, which make sliding the feet on the floor easier. Tights or yoga type pants are also helpful to protect the skin and allow for easier sliding on the floor. And Ballet shoes.

Class Description

Open Level is suitable for anyone who has had over a years’ experience in either contemporary dance or ballet. Championing personal development, the focus in this class is less on technique and more on the individual quality and style of movement.
