German Tanztheater Level 1/2 with Adrian Look

Accompanied by Alex Paton

£120 / £114 (enrolment) £14 / £12 (drop in)

Adrian teaches a contemporary dance theatre class, inspired by Pina Bausch and the beautiful strength and artistic expression of Tanztheater Wuppertal. The exercises and sequences in this class are very precise in dynamic, shape and intention. The main goal, however, is to use the technique in order to express an emotional state. The class aims to let go of any unnecessary extras and consequently strives to use conscious and meaningful movements. This class is expressive, strong and artistic and will allow you to visualize your emotional state, let yourself go and experience your art on a deep level best described as “losing yourself in dance”.

Artist’s biography:

Adrian studied Dance Theatre at the Fokwang University of the Arts in Germany and on graduating became a soloist for Tanztheater Bielefeld for three years, followed by two years of freelance projects in Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Adrian has worked with several dancers from Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch including Dominique Mercy, Malou Airaudo, Rainer Behr and Stephan Brinkman. Adrian has taught workshops in contemporary dance, ballet and improvisation for over ten years and since moving to London has taught workshops and classes at The Place, Trinity Laban, Chisenhale Dance Space and Greenwich Dance. Adrian is a lecturer at Morley College London and a visiting lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire.

Class description:

Working with a more codified structure, you will prepare the body for an increase in activity throughout the class.

Level 2 provides more challenging phrases and movements that incorporate multiple exercises and movement. Not only will you develop your technical knowledge but you will also begin to introduce performativity into your practice allowing for greater expression.
