Dancers from Didy Veldman’s company Umanoove will be offering participants a fascinating insight into the company’s premiere work The Happiness Project ahead of its performance at The Place in May.
This course is suitable for intermediate students with experience in contemporary dance. The workshop will include class, followed by the opportunity to learn sections of repertoire from the production and creatively explore some of the main themes and ideas.
Participants are invited to share what they have been working on as part of an informal studio sharing (3.00 – 3.30pm)
Best known in the UK for her productions for Rambert, Northern Ballet and HeadSpaceDance, international dance artist Didy Veldman launches her own company Umanoove with The Happiness Project, a choreographic investigation of western society’s endless search for fulfilment. This supremely physical and theatrical full length work for four fantastic dancers is made in collaboration with celebrated violinist/composer Alexander Balanescu, who performs live, and designer Kimie Nakano.
