A story of meetings and their resolution on stage. The piece deals with different types of relationships, explored within the performers’ own experience.
Take two performers. Melt their postures. Mix Bharatanatyam with contemporary flavours, and simmer until they merge. Gently incorporate lights, then shadows. Season with stolen ideas, but serve in original costumes.
Yanaëlle Thiran and Shivaangee Agrawal met at yoga classes at the Laban building. A Bharatanatyam dancer, Shivaangee trained vocationally in India after 17 years at the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, London. Yanaëlle graduated from London Contemporary Dance School in 2015. In 2017, both of them created solos around themes of ownership and embodiment of other people’s way of moving. Siobhan Davies Dance’s Next Choreography Festival and Blue Cloud Scratch Night prepared the ground for developing these ideas into a duet.
