Mon 13 - Meg Griffiths
Tue 14 - Fri 17 - James Muller
Megan Griffiths’ invigorating contemporary classes blends Cunningham and Release technique in a class that will leave you feeling energised.
Megan incorporates different learning techniques into her classes to break down and reconstruct movement material, giving you a sense of achievement as you gain a greater understanding of your own movement. Megan develops dynamic travelling phrases throughout the class so that you can shift through the space and transition in and out of the floor.
Megan graduated from London Contemporary Dance School in 2010. Since then she has performed and taught across the UK and Europe. She has performed with Ffin Dance, where she was also rehearsal director, James Cousins Company, Pell Ensemble, Amir Hosseinpour and Jonathan Lunn. Most recently Megan has been performing in David Poutney’s William Tell, staged originally for Welsh National Opera with choreography by Amir Hosseinpour. Megan regularly teaches throughout London. She works as an animateur for Essential Alston and as a guest lecturer on the BA Hons course at London Contemporary Dance School.
Drawing on his years of experience with Richard Alston Dance Company, James uses his innate sense of musicality to explore phrasing through movement.
This dynamic Cunningham influenced technique class will strengthen and increase awareness of the body. Starting with a series of simple back exercises, the class work then develops in to longer travelling sequences, exploring less conventional approaches to direction and timing.
James graduated from Central School of Ballet in 2006 with a BA (hons) degree in Professional Dance. After joining Northern Ballet that same year he went on to work with Peter Schaufuss Balletten in Denmark and Theater Ulm in Germany.
In 2013 James returned to the UK to join Richard Alston Dance Company (RADC). Since then he has toured extensively in Europe and the USA performing in a wide variety of work by Alston and associate choreographer Martin Lawrance.
As of 2017, James is a faculty teacher at Central school of Ballet for the Prep and Pre – Senior Students. He regularly leads workshops for the Essential Alston education programme and is now a regular Company teacher for RADC.
