D NO BODY 5
D NO BODY is a series of dance installations exploring the meaning of identity and the ways in which images of ourselves are contained in others. This work looks at our obsession with constructing perfect ‘avatars’ and dealing with the need for our intangible identity to find belonging.
In Part 5 of this series, Romeo Heart (Dario’s alter ego) lets us imagine how we might feel the things we see, evoking a sensory experience beyond the visual.
Produced by the DIVEinD foundation with the support of the Dutch Art Funds, Rotterdam’s board for Art and Culture, Via Zuid, Prins Berhard Cultural Funds.
All maps are a snapshot in time, a fixed interpretation of our world, unable to capture the ebb and flow of people, places and politics. MAPS is a dance piece considering the world map through its constantly changing nature, as a moveable image and a portrait of how globalisation and freedom of information
have broken our understanding of borders. Three dancers and a live musician bring the world map to life in a continuous, culturally mixed, rhythmic groove.
Developed with support from King’s College London, JW3, Brighton University, Swallowsfeet and AndromediA. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
This double bill is commissioned as part of Pivot Dance by The Place, Operaestate Festival and Dutch Dance Days Festival. Pivot Dance is funded with the support of Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
Venue: at The Place
