Sorry, you missed this event, SIGN UP to get information on our forthcoming shows

We’re teaming up with our friends at Battersea Arts Centre to bring you two weeks of genre-busting shows which refuse to be categorised as dance or theatre. We both support artists who take risks and delight in playing with what you expect to encounter in a theatre.

Please note: this event is taking place at Battersea Arts Centre

Igor and Moreno

Idiot-Syncrasy

We started with wanting to change the world with a performance. We felt like idiots.

Then we danced a lot. We jumped. We called on the folk traditions of Sardinia and the Basque Country. We sang. We jumped some more. We committed.

Now we promise to persevere. We promise to be open. We promise to do our best.

Idiot-Syncracy is the new work from Igor Urzelai and Moreno Solinas, two London-based dance artists making and presenting work across Europe. Creating dance performances in partnership since 2007, Igor and Moreno want to reclaim the role of the theatre as a place for assembly whilst exploring the cathartic properties of live performance.
Igor and Moreno are Work Place artists.

Promises of Happiness

Are you happy? Would more money help? A hug from a stranger?

A new mobile phone or cheaper car insurance?

This is a dance show for joy, for simple pleasures, for saying ‘no’ to people who want to tell us what should or should not make us happy; and to endless promises of happiness alluding to a world just out of reach.

Here, exploring happiness is more important than ever actually finding it. Let’s go there together.

Robert Clark makes humorous and emotionally charged, intricate and detailed dance shows.

Idiot-Syncracy was commissioned by The Place and created using Arts Council funding through Grants for the Arts and with support from Yorkshire Dance, Cambridge Junction, Centro per la Scena Contemporanea, Bassano (Italy) and BAD Festival in Bilbao. Promises of Happiness is produced by The Place. Commissioned by Dance East and The Place. Funded by Arts Council England. Supported by Greenwich Dance, Trestle Arts Base and Dance4. Robert Clark is a Work Place Artist and Resident Artist at Greenwich Dance
