An intensive eight-day programme of Somatic Workshops for professional practitioners, vocational level students or anyone with a background in movement practices. You can enrol onto all classes at a discounted price, or select individual workshops to suit you, from Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais, to improvisation, breath and yoga. All classes are taught by outstanding practitioners Susanne Lahusen, Simonetta Alessandri and Fabiano Culora, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Susanne Lahusen’s interest in somatics started when she helped to set up a collection on the early 20th century Central European Dance, and started to explore the roots that led to the various somatic practices of today.
She has a BEd in Movement Studies and Sports Science, an MA in Dance, and certification in Yoga, Pilates, Gyrotonic, and the Alexander Technique. She currently teaches somatics at LCDS, trains yoga teachers for Yogacampus, she runs experiential anatomy and yoga sequencing courses, and also works as a private movement practitioner.
Whilst respecting the unique characteristics of the various disciplines which she has studied, Susanne’s approach to teaching has evolved from an awareness of the elements that are fundamental to all movement.
Fabiano has been working with performers since 2001 though interdisciplinary somatic practice, exploring bodymind awareness and preparation for creation and performance. Applying principles from Authentic Movement, BMC, Body&Earth, Yoga and Somatic Psychology to performative improvisational practice, a work has arisen which enables performers to develop adaptable qualities of emerging presence from a supported embodied relational consciousness. He has held faculty positions in UK conservatoires (currently at NSCD) and works with performers in professional contexts. He has taught throughout the UK, Europe, as well as USA, Russia and Iceland. Fabiano also has a private practice working as a Somatic Movement Therapist in Leeds.
Simonetta is Italian dance artist based in London. She teaches at Trinity Laban, Goldsmiths University and London Contemporary Dance School. Her work is informed by more than 30 years of dancing, teaching and choreographing. Simonetta has choreographed for dance companies, large scale opera, improvised performance, student pieces, site specific and has delivered movement direction for theatre. She taught for more than 20 years in Italy and kept Contact Improvisation alive in Roma for 10 years with her classes and jams.
