Webinar Wednesdays is a series of free resources for professional dance artists. Each session focuses on skills that may be particularly resonant, practical and nourishing now and that may help us reimagine future realities.
Marginalisation and Change: How can artists work in these times? With Kim Simpson
The impact of Covid-19 on the performing arts sector is huge and artists are also dealing with the shifts in context that it has catalysed. What has become even more visible is the inequalities in our society and in the arts and this raises many big questions that we must grapple with together:
Referencing her own collaborators, learning, tools, processes and values, Kim Simpson will lead a discussion to begin unpicking some of these questions.
This webinar will take place on Zoom, hosted by Artist Development Producer Amy Bell. Zoom links will be emailed to everyone who books a place online. Each session will be recorded and made available as a subtitled video resource on The Place website.
About Kim Simpson
Working from her base in Glasgow under the name Blood and Bone, Kim Simpson is a consciously and fiercely independent curator, producer, facilitator and coach. Kim uses her lived experiences of disability and exclusion in her work with people, organisations, institutions and networks, drawn to the 'connective tissue' of arts and culture, making links, sharing knowledge, strengthening collaboration, relationships and systems and empowering creative, energising and ecological working bringing her passions for learning, equalities and connecting people and ideas in a global world and interconnected time. Kim is less concerned with what we do than with how we do it.
Kim collaborates on artist and sector relations with Take Me Somewhere, artistic programme with Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival and on strategic, facilitation, consulting, research and evaluation projects with Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, Federation of Scottish Theatre, Collective Gallery, Creative Scotland and Unlimited. Kim is a Clore Leadership Fellow, an ISPA Global Fellow and an active member of IETM.
