Y Dance

Alien Man

Emerging collective Disaffections present Alien Man, a jarring and abstract exploration of the struggles associated with forming a sense of collective identity.

No matter our shared cultural reference points, we all view life through the lens of our individual experience. Emerging collective Disaffections present Alien Man, a surreal and abstract exploration of the feeling of alienation, and the struggles associated with forming a sense of collective identity.

Disaffections was formed in April 2018, and aims to explore new ways in which music and dance can interface with an audience, and the psychological processes, physiological mechanisms, and learned cultural attitudes that can drive emotional response to performance.

Follow Through Collective
Common Ground

In Common Ground, seven dancers attempt to build a community which celebrates diversity, equally valuing every individual. The overarching aim is to accommodate idiosyncrasies, but this creates friction. Meeting in their effort to interact and connect, they negotiate boundaries, accept differences and declare togetherness as a common, mutual decision. Group form, merge and dissolve whilst the dancers break social norms and create a common identity.

Greta Gauhe is a German dance artist, who graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a BA in dance theatre. She is the founder of the Follow Through Collective. She collaborates with artists from various backgrounds in order to combine different art forms on stage, often creating a multi channel experience for the audience. Her work draws attention to problems in our society and
makes personal reflection tangible. Currently she is undertaking her MA in Performance at the LSCD, to further investigate into her artistic practice.

Greta Gauhe’s work has constantly proven to be thought provoking and had a deep impact on me. I can only recommend to see her work and be prepared to see a emotionally gripping dance performance with high quality dancers.
